deep vee changes course, it banks into the turn and the rudder acts partially in the horizontal plane (instead of purely vertical) and that tends to lift the stern and drop the bow of the boat. Turn fins are mounted so that they are vertical in the water during turns, and this helps the boat maintain a stable planing attitude for faster turning and improved acceleration into the next straight.
